Norwegian Ridgeback

Norwegian Ridgeback

The Norwegian Ridgeback was a dragon species native to the Norwegian mountains. Although it physically resembled a Hungarian Horntail, the species could be distinguished thanks to the black ridges on its back. The browner texture in its scales and its marginally less hostile demeanour also made it a little different. These dragons typically had venomous fangs and a taste for aquatic animals. It was this particular breed of dragon that hatched from the egg Rubeus Hagrid was given by a stranger in a Hogsmeade pub, which he named Norbert. And although Hagrid doted on little Norbert, he soon realised that dragons couldn't be domesticated and his prize pet would be happier roaming free in the Nordic mountains.
