Hippogriff

Halfway between a horse and an eagle, Hippogriffs are majestic beasts that could be dangerous if not shown the proper respect. With sharp beaks, foot-long talons and the ability to fly, they are proud creatures and humans should bow and wait for the Hippogriff to do the same before they approach. Draco Malfoy learned this to his detriment when he called Buckbeak the Hippogriff an ‘ugly great brute’ during Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures class, and was swiftly rewarded with a bloody gash on his arm. However, if treated appropriately, a Hippogriff may let a human fly with them on their back.
