Check out the new trailer and launch date for Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking

Hosted by James and Oliver Phelps, AKA the Weasley twins, Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is an upcoming culinary competition with a Harry Potter twist. Launching 14th November (just in time for the festive season) here’s a little taster before the show launches.

Nine teams of pastry chefs will be pitted against each other across six episodes to deliver spellbinding showpieces to esteemed judges, Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef. And yes, each bake will be inspired by the themes of the wizarding world. But hopefully, no one will be inspired by Rubeus Hagrid’s famous rock cakes.

Filmed in Leavesden, the home of the Harry Potter films, you can expect to see some magical alumni pop up to give their two cents. Warwick Davis, Evanna Lynch and Bonnie Wright will be stepping into the studio to share some nostalgic movie memories with us all - and probably a few sneaky tastes of the contestants’ concoctions too! 

Each team will come in pairs to create their confectionary creations. Teams competing are: Kimberly Adams (Milwaukee, MI) and Ashley Cardona (Charleston, SC), Lisa Altfest (Orange County, CA) and Mitzi Reyes (Los Angeles, CA), Hemu Basumatary  (Katy, TX) and Riccardo Menicucci (Los Angeles, CA), Zoe Burmester (Brooklyn, NY) and Jordan Pilarski (Ojai, CA), Jess Lewis (Washington, DC) and Jamie Louks (Seattle, WA), Kayla Giddings(Lafayette, LA) and Yohann Le Bescond(Ocala, FL), Juan Gutierrez (Chicago, IL) and Elizabeth Rowe (Dallas, TX), Michael Russ II (Modesto, CA) and Conner Strackman (Smithville, TX), and Christopher Teixeira (Chicago, IL) and Miko Uy (Astoria, NY). 

So! Who will win the first-ever Wizards of Baking Cup? We can’t wait to find out. __Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking premieres Thursday, 14th November__ on Food Network and globally on Max where the platform is available (with further broadcasters to be announced).

The search for the next Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger is underway!

Today, an open casting call for residents of the UK and Ireland has been announced for the new HBO Original series adaptation of Harry Potter. The series is officially looking for actors aged between 9 and 11 on April 2025 to take on the roles. Applicants must be a UK or Ireland resident to be considered, and, naturally, must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

The TV series, which will serve as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, [recently found its showrunner](https://www.wizardingworld.com/news/hbo-harry-potter-series-finds-writer-director) – Francesca Gardiner, while Mark Mylod will direct several episodes and serve as executive producer. He joins fellow executive producers, J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV and David Heyman of Heyday films.

Alas, unlike the wizarding community, we cannot travel via [broom](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/objects/broomstick) or [Hippogriff](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/creatures/hippogriff). However, we can now track our distinctly Muggle activities in a fun new way with The Conqueror app’s new Harry Potter collaboration.

The idea behind the Conqueror app is to track your exercise (such as walking, cycling or running) and be rewarded every time you log your progress via in-app trials. 

In this Harry Potter collaboration, fitness fans can retrace Harry’s adventures through four virtual challenges, inspired by the events of the first four books, from *Philosopher/Sorcerer’s Stone* through to *Goblet of Fire*.

Created with a custom virtual map, every step you take becomes part of your adventure – starting at Privet Drive, and taking you through to Hogwarts, where you’ll unlock iconic moments from the stories as you amp up your activities. 

You can even gain points for your Hogwarts house throughout your journey, enjoy pop-up quizzes, and look forward to sporadic tasks, such as trying to catch the Golden Snitch. Your efforts will be rewarded too: with each challenge completed, you’ll earn a real-life Harry Potter medal and other goodies. 

The more distance you cover, the more content unlocks as your adventure unfolds. You can even play as a group if you need a bit of help! And the best part is: all sorts of exercise count for points (If only we could log Quidditch!) so whatever you do, make it part of your Harry Potter adventure.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter brought magic to Asia for the first time last year. And now, a new flurry of tickets have been announced for the upcoming months. So, if you're planning a trip to Japan (or are there already!) your chance has come to explore the movie magic for yourself.

What happens when the magic of the wizarding world meets pots, pans and lots and lots of cake mix? Well, we’re soon to find out, following the news today that the Food Network has a new baking competition straight out of the oven, all in the name of Harry Potter!

Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking invites fans to mix, whisk and glaze their way to success, with professional pastry chefs competing against each other to create enchanting sweet treats, themed around the Harry Potter stories. Will the bakers be able to channel their inner Mrs Weasley? Or will their attempts be as successful as one of Seamus Finnigan’s exploding cauldrons?  

Filmed in [Leavesden, the home of the Harry Potter film series](https://www.wizardingworld.com/discover/experiences/warner-bros-studio-tour-london-the-making-of-harry-potter), you’ll be able to watch the competition unfold at the very place where the stories were brought to life, with locations including The Burrow, The Great Hall and Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Celebrating the graphic designs created by MinaLima for the iconic shop fronts of [Diagon Alley](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/locations/diagon-alley), this brand new range features lovingly detailed illustrations of the spellbinding shops from the 'Harry Potter' film series, hence the name of the postcard and print series: ["Spellbinding Shops!"](https://bit.ly/3y0BnwZ)

Speaking about the new collection, Miraphora Mina, [who founded MinaLima with her creative partner Eduardo Lima](https://www.wizardingworld.com/features/magic-of-minalima-interview), told us about being inspired by the charming quirks of the magical shopping district.

'[Diagon Alley](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/locations/diagon-alley) was one of our favourite sets to design on the Harry Potter films and, within that, creating the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes joke shop was a dream assignment,' she said.

'Our inspiration for Diagon Alley was Dickensian London: colours, textures, fonts and words all evoked a slightly-familiar yet by-gone era but this bustling street of shops was set in present day and the people we saw thronging the streets were witches and wizards – a magical world existed just out of sight of [Muggles](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/magical-miscellany/muggles)!'

## Mr Ollivanders

Unlike some of the more colourful, vibrant shops scattered around Diagon Alley, Ollivander's wand shop is described as 'narrow and shabby', but steeped in important wizarding history, [with a family business stemming back centuries.](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/mr-ollivander)

Here, Minalima have brought that ancient legacy into the design. And you can even see the messy piles of wand boxes through the dimly lit windows!

## Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

Now for something a tad more colourful. The cheerful business of [Fred and George Weasley](https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/fred-and-george-weasley) is a physical embodiment of their personalities: boisterous, idiosyncratic and explosive. Literally explosive, actually, look at those fireworks! 

Even the finer details are suitable mischievous. You can see the phrase "masterpieces of modern magical mayhem" across the window frames alongside a nod to the twin's famous [Puking Pastilles](https://www.wizardingworld.com/features/ranking-the-wizarding-world-sweets) product through the glass.

## Flourish & Blotts and Florean Fortescue's ice cream parlour

In this image, we get to celebrate two of our favourite things in one fell swoop: books and ice cream.

We visit Flourish & Blotts a couple of times in the book series: the famous bookshop is where we meet [Gilderoy Lockhart](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/gilderoy-lockhart), Lucius Malfoy, and an extremely anxious staff member who has to stock the rather animated tome, the Monster Book of Monsters.

In this illustration, Minalima have perfectly captured the ramshackle beauty of any old bookshop. 

Then there's [Florean Fortescue's](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/florean-fortescue) ice cream parlour - which Harry visits on multiple occasions during his temporary stay at Diagon Alley in *Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban*.

We love some of the creative flavours on display here, from "Butterbeer and ginger" (yum) to...frog legs with peanut butter. Hmm, we'll have to think about that one.

This year marks two decades since the cinematic release of *Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban*. To celebrate, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London have added a whole host of props, costumes, and sets from the third film. 

Earlier this week, we admired those brand-new additions to the Studio Tour – transporting us straight back to 2004 and the release of this fantastic film. Here are just a handful of our highlights…

## The Great Hall’s new look
Let’s start with the heart of Hogwarts, the Great Hall. As soon as we stepped into it, we were greeted by 100 floating candles suspended above our heads. Once we were able to tear our eyes away from them, we spotted the Frog Choir at the front of the hall, ready to sing at the top of their lungs. Let’s hope none of them had a frog in their throat!

## Open your Inner Eye…
And we *have* to talk about one of our favourite new additions, Sybill Trelawney’s Divination classroom. Bedecked in rich fabrics with the signature round tables, velvet pouffes and let’s not forget the tower of teacups. But most importantly, in our opinion, you can see the original teacup that contains ‘The Grim’. But observe it at your peril… we all remember what happened to Ron’s Uncle Bilius.

## Hold on tight! 
The Knight Bus is not known for being the smoothest form of transportation… though it does look rather fun. And we were excited to see just how they captured that memorable ride. We won’t spoil too many secrets but look out for the moving beds!

## Riddikulus!
Is there a more iconic scene in *Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban* than Professor Lupin’s Boggart lesson? We know it’ll take years before the image of Snape in *that* Riddikulus outfit leaves our head. So, we were thrilled to see the new Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom addition – complete with Snape, Lupin and a wardrobe with a mind of its own…

## What’s that under the bed?
In Harry’s third year at Hogwarts, he ends up with a brand-new textbook that bites back. We spotted that slightly terrifying tome during our tour. Let’s just say keep an eye out under Harry’s bed at the Leaky Cauldron – you’re in for a surprise.

## Can you find Scabbers?
A Studio Tour visit wouldn’t be complete without an Activity Passport to collect stamps, answer trivia, hunt for snitches and new for this feature, finding Scabbers via interactive stations located around four of the sets. Be sure to pick up a passport during your visit!

Universal Orlando Resort reveals summer schedule for 2024 – including castle projection show, Hogwarts Always

Universal Studios invites you to ‘seize the summer like never before’ with a collection of new experiences launching in the upcoming months – and Harry Potter fans have double the reason to get excited, with the introduction of “Hogwarts Always” and “Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular” coming this June.

The first, Hogwarts Always, is a stunning new projection show debuting in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade on the 14th of June. 

Set on select nights at the park, fans can gaze in awe as this new illuminating experience takes guests on a journey through iconic Hogwarts moments, set against the radiant backdrop of the famous castle and accompanied by a newly arranged score recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Expect dazzling light effects and fan-favourite moments of a year in the life of a Hogwarts student combined for an unforgettable evening. And for an extra personal flourish, the show will also feature four different ending options - each a different Hogwarts house. You’ll have to grab a viewing spot to see if your house takes home the House Cup!

Harry Potter fans should also check out Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular, also debuting on the 14th of June.

This night-time show, set in the waters of the Universal Studio Florida lagoon, will put on performances of iconic movie scores, leveraging special effects and groundbreaking technology to breathe new life into these beloved soundtracks – which of course includes Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. The lagoon show will feature new higher-than-ever fountains and over 600 drones to help create movie magic as you listen to your musical favourites. Sounds like it’s really going to make a splash.

The news comes only a few months after we revealed the upcoming launch of Universal Epic Universe, which will include new wizarding world additions to the parks, such as 1920s Paris and the British Ministry of Magic. Ah, but of course. Our much-loved Hogwarts Headmaster famously has a penchant for Muggle sweets, so you can see a few snuck in here. In the UK, we call these Sherbet Lemons. In the US, the books namecheck these hard-boiled treats as Lemon Drops.

Either way, Dumbledore loved his confectionary so much, he often named his [office](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/locations/dumbledores-office) passwords after them.

In the UK, it's important to have a brolly within a 1-mile radius at all times, for rain is never far away. However, on this occasion, this was a friendly nod to Rubeus Hagrid, who was often seen with his [trusty pink umbrella](https://www.wizardingworld.com/features/rubeus-hagrid-and-the-case-of-the-pink-flowery-umbrella) - heavily implied to contain his broken wand, that was snapped when he (wrongly!) got expelled in his youth.

Whatever's going on in there, it is a considerably more magical object than your standard umbrella at any rate.

## Books and cleverness...

Take a closer look at that mixing board. Hmm, they don't seem like standard buttons to us. As much as we'd love a "cleverness" button in real life, this was actually a wink towards [Hermione's](https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/hermione-granger) legendary quote. Oh, you know the one.

And finally, the crème de la crème: perhaps one of the most iconic Harry Potter props of all time. All seven Harry Potter audiobooks to be transformed into new full-cast ensemble productions

Anyone got any Extendable Ears? You might need some extras for this big upcoming project.

Scheduled for late 2025, get ready to enjoy the Harry Potter audiobooks in a whole new way – as this latest project plans to cast over a hundred voice artists to  take on some of your most beloved wizarding world characters.  

Each of the seven English language audiobooks will be released sequentially for a global audience, and will sit alongside and complement the iconic single-voice English language recordings by Jim Dale and Stephen Fry.

The project is set to be a real tour de force in audio production. Alongside a new ensemble cast, the audiobooks will be further enhanced with high quality sound design in Dolby Atmos, alongside a stunning original score and real-world sound capture, all created to make your experience of the wizarding world feel even more authentic. 

And as for casting? Audible and Pottermore Publishing will be working with casting directors and agents to find the best voices for all the characters.

Neil Blair, Chairman of Pottermore Publishing called the project a “sophisticated, immersive audio experience”.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Audible on what will be a ground-breaking audio edition of the beloved Harry Potter stories,” he said.

“J.K. Rowling’s storytelling lends itself perfectly to the application of new audiobook technologies, and we’re certain this sophisticated, immersive audio experience will not only add a new listening dimension for existing fans but will introduce a whole new generation of listeners to the wizarding world.” 

This new listening experience will be exclusive to Audible, which is also home to all the existing Harry Potter audiobooks and their spin-offs. This new upcoming project is part of Audible’s bountiful library of family-friendly selections, and will certainly make your enjoyment of the Harry Potter stories all the more magical.
